Video Description
In March 2003, Dr. Aafia Siddiqui and her children were abducted in Karachi, Pakistan. Of her children: Ahmad, who was 6 at the time, Maryum who was 4 and Suleman, who was only 6 months old, ONLY Ahmad is accounted for. According to reports from both the Pakistani & U.S. press, Dr. Aafia had been picked up by security officials and handed over to the U.S. for questioning. Dr. Aafias family was advised to stay quiet and told they would be left alone. After making discreet inquiries the familys hope began to fade as they began to believe that Dr. Aafia and her children were dead. Dr. Aafias mother would search burial sites searching for closure. In early 2008, Moazzem Beg, a former detainee at Gitmo identified Aafia among the women prisoners at Bagram. By early July, a prominent Pakistani politician, Imran Khan and British reporters released reports about Dr. Aafia being a detainee in one of the secret prisons Reports have surfaced that Dr. Aafia may have been The Grey Lady of Bagram a Muslim woman, who was allegedly tortured, raped and psychologically abused. At Bagram there were no special facilities for women. July 2008, Dr. Aafias family learned directly from the FBI that she had been shot in Afghanistan and that she was being brought to the U.S. to face charges of assaulting U.S. servicemen. Dr. Aafias attorneys have informed that she was victimized, was not given proper medical treatment and may have been tortured. The prosecutions own medical review declared her unfit to stand trial and is suffering from post traumatic stress syndrome. The prosecution is now appealing their own doctors findings so that she can stand trial http://www.freeaafia.org/about-us.html
