Al-Wahn: A Deadly Disease Affecting Muslims

On the authority of Thawbaan , the Prophet said: The People will soon summon one another to attack you as people when eating invite others to share their food. Someone asked, Will that be because of our small numbers at that time? He replied, No, you will be numerous at that time: but you will be froth and scum like that carried down by a torrent (of water), and Allah will take the fear of you from the breasts (hearts) of your enemy and cast al-wahn into your hearts.Someone asked, O Messenger of Allah, what is al-wahn? He replied, Love of the world and dislike of death. [An authentic hadith recorded by Abu Dawud and Ahmad] In this lecture, sister Laila Nasheeba gives us the tafsir (explanation) of this hadith while vividly detailing the many examples in our history and today of how we have fallen victim to the disease known as Al-Wahn.

A Muslim Is The Brother of Another Muslim-Imam Nawawi Hadith

Abu Hurairah, radiyallahu anhu, reported that the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu alayhi wasallam, said: Do not be envious of one another; do not artificially inflate prices against one another; do not hate one another; do not shun one another; and do not undercut one another in business transactions; and be as fellow-brothers and servants of Allah. A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim. He neither oppresses him nor humiliates him nor looks down upon him. Piety is here - and he pointed to his chest three times. It is evil enough for a Muslim to hold his brother Muslim in contempt. All things of a Muslim are inviolable for another Muslim: his blood, his property and his honour. [Muslim] In this lecture Sister Laila Nasheeba details the tafsir (explanation) behind this hadith giving us much insight into how to build a better brotherhood/sisterhood among us.
